The Bad Day Box is a simple lo-fi* feedback / switch-box, housed in a recycled film container. Consisting of an input, output, and send/return jacks, it mixes a high-gain input source with an FX unit to create a feedback loop. With the on/off switch, you can alternate between the source signal and the mixed signal.
Other high-gain sources can also include keyboards, tape players, or any combo you can imagine. Feedback looping/FX units can really be anything too, but bear in mind that that you really want something that can shape the sound. Envelope filters, Moog pedals, EQ's, and other such devices feature tone, speed, and pitch controls that will turn the Bad Day Box into a good day making noise!
* I should point out that the term "lo-fi" means "as basic as it gets". The Bad Day Box is an entry-level device. Your $3000 modular synth won't like it, and there's going to be occasional signal-bleed! However, if you enjoy experimenting with analog signals & plugging things in the wrong way, you're likely to get a lot of mileage with this.
