Crank Sturgeon Bad Day Box v.3
First, lets have a look at the Bad Day Box. On top of the box is an on/off rocker-style switch and a knob. On each side of the Bad Day Box there two standard 1/4" jacks, accompanied by one dot on one side, two dots on the other.
On the side featuring one dot and two 1/4" jack:
This is for the source input and output (to a mixer, amp, etc).
On the side featuring two dots and two 1/4 jacks:
This is for the feedback loop.
The on/off switch alternates between the original source signal and the signal mixed by the feedback loop. The knob increases/decreases the level of the feedback loop.
A few things to note...
-The Bad Day Box is a lofi device and is designed to make joyous sonic splatter from whatever its being fed. Keep in mind that it's a greedy beast, and so a little noisy bleed through is normal when the switch in in the off position.
-For best results, use high-gain sources - the grungier, the better. These can be radios, synthesizers, old school intercoms, tape players, or simply a contact mic with a distortion pedal.
-Feddback loops can be generated using synthesizers, FX send/returns, delay units or even that old DOD EQ pedal (our personal favorite). The idea is to use something that will really shape the feedback loop; devices that feature envelope filters, tone, speed and pitch controls will turn your Bad Day Box into a good day of making NOISE.
-Experimentation is key when indulging your Bad Day Box; it's also part of the fun.
The Bad Day Box is a lofi feedback loop switcher. It is designed to blend or "mix" a feedback loop (created by an FX unit) with a high gain sound...
