Workshop

July 14th — 1pm-4pm — Limited to 6 participants.**Due to demand, a second workshop session has been added for Monday, July 16 from 5-8PM!**

Join us for the Landscape Stereo Field DIY workshop, Saturday July 14th at Control with Landscape's own Eric Pitra!

Suitable for beginners, participants in this work shop will be building a Stereo Field (B-stock with light cosmetic imperfections) using only basic soldering and assembly skills. Pitra will lead the class in soldering pots and jacks, attaching the I/O board, soldering the power jack, placing two ICs, and securing the hardware and chassis. All SMT components are pre-soldered, so no surface mount soldering skills are needed.

Stereo Field is one instrument with three uses. It is simultaneously a stereo/quad modular touch plate synthesizer, a stereo/quad audio processor and a pressure sensitive chaotic CV controller. All three uses are available separately as well as simultaneously and in conversation with each other. The Stereo Field allows its user to manipulate and patch two analog stereo circuits via touch plates. By utilizing skin conductivity as new paths for current to follow you are creating new circuits and new sounds in relation to where your fingers are patching.

BYOS - Bring Your Own Soldering Iron - let us know if you need Control to provide you with any soldering tools, including irons as we have limited availability.

About your instructor: Eric Pitra creates electronic music for film and album release under his own name and as well as Nature Program. He scored the award-winning documentary Cassette. His company Landscape creates experimental electronic instruments influenced by obsolete technology with interfaces that invite intimate human involvement within electronic sound creation. Landscape instruments include the Stereo Field, (HC-TT) Human Controlled Tape Transport, and AllFlesh.
