At Machina Bristronica 2024, Belgian modular synthesiser manufacturer Joranalogue Audio Design announced their new collaboration with acclaimed musician and YouTube sensation Hainbach.

Collide 4 builds upon the lock-in amplifier concept and brings it into the Eurorack world. These atomic age physics research instruments are known for their raw power when used in musical applications. Now, any synthesist can experience this for themselves, at a fraction of the size and weight of a vintage unit, and with full voltage control.

While Collide 4 does not replicate any vintage circuitry directly, it is designed to be a faithful member of the lock-in family. It has all the features and parameters one would expect from a true lab instrument, carefully tailored towards musical use, as guided by Hainbach’s extensive experience in performing and recording test equipment music.

The module is 20HP wide, fully analogue, and contains a pingable variable bandwidth filter with self-oscillation capability, pre- and post-filter gain stages,a through-zero sine/cosine quadrature oscillator, a Hilbert transformer for frequency shifter use, dual ring modulators with output lowpass filters as well as an extensive output section
